When I decided to write a blog, I had a few hesitations. These hesitations included but were not limited too the fact that I have nothing to write about, no one who cares what I am going to write about and English was my least favorite subject.
I still decided to blog...and I kinda enjoy it when I actually do it. Today I signed up for something that seems even more pointless which means in the social networking world it should be huge in no time.
So if you want to ask me a question and feel like being awkward about it... formspring.me/deanmcgowan
ya heard?

Things That Annoy Me
1. Facebook groups that are protesting paying for Facebook. Why are you protesting something that is not happening?
2. www.Mydeathspace.com
3. The number of television shows i got into way to late (The Office, Lost and now 30 Rock)
4. The fact that I feel like I can never guess anyone's age if I do not meet them in a specific context.
5. When people tell me what to do.
6. When people tell anyone what to do.
7. That people suddenly care about celebrities after they die (People hated Michael Jackson for years.)
8. When I am out of the loop with what is going on. I should not care about pop culture but i really do.
9. When people stop at the yield sign by the Jefferson Valley Mall that has two lanes going into two lanes.
10. Haters...

Fate of The Office
When watching Conan O'Brien rip apart NBC the last few days I have realized that no matter what he does he will really only damage the Tonight Show (if anything.) When you think about it people do not watch any major network because they support the network, they do it because they like whatever TV show, sporting event or movie they are watching. It comes down to the fact that most people are only activists until it starts to negatively effect their personal life. My example was no matter how much people like/support Conan if you are a fan of The Office you will not stop watching it. This was the only example of NBC programming (other then sports) that my friends and I all said we watched.
Now their is a chance that may be coming to an end.
On Thursday NBC played their first new episode of the Office since the holiday episode on December 10th...if you want to call it a new episode. The majority of the episode involved clips of the past six seasons. The editors did a great job incorporating funny stunts, side characters, love affairs, and multiple montages that were great (with the exception of not having enough Andy.)
This does worry me though because it may mean that the Office writers are out of steam or the show may be on its way out. It is hard to see that show lasting much longer at its current caliber regardless of whether or not this show was aired. The main character (Jim) has already married Pam (main love interest of the show) and they are going to have a baby before the end of the season. It has also already gone six seasons (this one being the worst in my opinion) and have to pay for stars at the caliber of Steve Carrell.
In addition to these reasons that I believe the Office is either on its way out or on its way to being the next "Saved By the Bell: The New Class" their are two more interesting "coincidences." And this many coincidences only happens on the show Lost or when they are not really coincidences.
One- Ricky Gervais is rumored to appear on an episode of The Office before the end of the season. Ricky is the original Michael Scott as well as a writer and director of the original series on the U.K. This would be his first appearance on the show and something they may have wanted to do before the series had ended.
Two- Situations surrounding Steve Carrell. The first of which is how the character Michael Scott handled "The Banker" who was coming to see how everything was at Dunder Mifflin Scranton. He continuously made pleas that everything was okay and ends the episode by saying "I think the future is very bright" but the episode seemed to me like a plea to continue the show. In addition if NBC is thinking about cancelling them it makes sense that Steve Carrell has been confirmed as a special guest on the last episode of the Tonight Show with Conan at 11:35 which should be an event that is both "a lot of fun" and bashes NBC's decision to move Conan's time.
...Or maybe NBC had scheduling conflicts/wanted to save some time or money...who knows?

On Underdogs
I think the best part about being in high school is being a freshman. My favorite beer pong matches are against people who take it like a sport and play often. The best feeling is doing something you have no idea what to do and succeeding. This is why being a Jets fan is a lot more fun then being a Yankee fan.
I used to say in high school that i envied freshman and believe that being a freshman is the best year of your life. When asked about this I explained that if a freshman loses a fight they will still be looked up to for trying and if they win they are a God. The Jets are in this position right now as the NFL season comes to an end and only four teams remain.
Even if I did not like the Jets all year long, I would still be pulling for them because of their positive and determined attitude despite being considered not only the worst team in the playoffs but many people did not think they deserved to be there. Rex Ryan and his crew have proved that they did deserve the playoff spot and I hope they kick the Colts ass like a Freaks and Geeks star would kick Freddie Prince Jr's ass in high school.
It is great to be a fan of a team like the Jets when you are used to being a Yankee fan.

Things Every Guy Should Know
This is a list inspired by Lauren Leto's blog Things Every Women Should Know How to do. Her blog is definitly worth a read.
1) When you get into an argument with a women, they don't handle it the same way a guy does. When a guy argues it takes three minutes to become a joke, women do not like joking about what they were mad about. Trust me.
2) Making the most noise with your car muffler does not mean you are cool, it simply means you are destroying your car trying to be cool.
3) The shot girls are not going home with you so go to the bar and buy real drinks.
4) Do not be nice to girls you are never going to see again because you think they are hot. This will just make them more stuck up and bitchy. Then you will complain why hot girls are stuck up and bitchy. It is our fault.
5) Johnny Depp, Kevin Smith and Jim Halpert are cooler then any jock. Choose your idol accordingly.
6) If your favorite character on Lost is Jack, your favorite TMNT was Leonardo or your favorite power ranger was the red one you are a tool. Re-evaluate your life or enroll in tool academy (if you considered enrolling you have lost all hope.)
7) Only defend the girl you are dating if she is at least half right. If she cheats on your she did a lot more harm to you then the random guy did. Don't just hit him to feel cool (actually don't hit anyone to feel cool, its not.)
8) If you are completely nice all the time you will get burned. Don't say I didn't warn you.
9) Always look before you say a girl looks good. And say something specific so they believe they are not just being yessed to death.
10) As a guy you do not have to be clean...that does not mean be disgusting.
11) Do not have two earrings the size of a ring. Its weird.

Atlantic City 1/?
I could conceivably write at least five blogs about my trip to Atlantic City. This probably will not happen due to my apathy, my assumption of your apathy and my laziness...but I want to keep it open in case boredom beats all three of those things. But seriously...Atlantic city? What the hell?
First of all the hotels are gorgeous and the electric bill in probably insanely high because there are lights everywhere...everywhere. Then they give people free rooms and other free stuff. This is because most people lose money when they go there. Most people who go don't even know what they should do (probability-wise) to win. Every game in the casino people have less then a fifty percent chance of winning. On top of that people go to slots and spend hundreds and thousands of dollars on a game that drives a majority of the casino profits. This is not only all true but people get excited to go to a place where most people (not regulars) expect to lose a minimum of a few hundred dollars.
None of what I have written so far includes what I thought was interesting to blog about, my trip was the silly part. Who loses all their money in Atlantic City on Boardwalk-Carney games...This Guy!
So have you ever played those ball and bucket games. The idea of the game is all you need to do is make consecutive shots into a bucket at a specific angle. This is possible but highly unlikely. The operator will try and convince you it is easy and give you a lot of free shots so that you believe you can do it (the free shots allow you to make 1/10 but still see it is possible.)
The SCAM...
The person who was running this specific carnival game saw us coming. He told us it was his last day open and if we won a prize (PS3) he really wanted it so would buy it back from us for $300. He then told us he gave us more shots than he usually does and allowed us to play on teams. He continued to not heckle us but explain how easy it is and constantly remind us how close we were. Collectively we left $110 poorer.
We also had Sucker written on our foreheads from partying the night before.
In other news... Their is a cat man in Atlantic City who feeds cats (we saw at least 8) under the boardwalk. He may be homeless because he spends rent money on cat food
